atlanta united Goalkeeper and captain Brad Guzan has returned to first team training after suffering an MCL injury in April.

The Five Stripes welcomed their veteran shot stopper back to training just a month after announcing that Guzan would be out for around 10-12 weeks with a torn MCL in his left knee. However, the recovery process has accelerated tremendously for the former USMNT goalkeeper.

Although Atlanta MLS’s (18), Guzan was able to keep two clean sheets before a month of action. The Eastern Conference team is expected to have Goosan back in action in the next few weeks as he has already sat out Saturday’s clash with Charlotte FC.

Back-to-back losses against Nashville and Inter Miami halt Atlanta’s strong start to the 2023 season. However, the Five Stripes still finished fourth in the Eastern Conference with 18 points. They will look to rebound at home against the aforementioned Charlotte FC and Colorado Rapids.

Brad Guzan has won almost everything with Atlanta – the MLS Cup in 2018 and the US Open Cup in 2019. However, Atlanta may have to start looking to the future regarding the goalie position as this is Guzan’s second major injury in the last two years.
