2023 major league soccer The season has seen some incredible goalkeeping in both conferences.

Roman Burki

Roman Burki has been key in St. Louis City’s first year in MLS. The Switzerland international, who plays for Bundesliga clubs Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, has kept three clean sheets this season but conceded just 13 goals, fifth-fewest in the league.

Burki’s strong performances have helped the expansion side climb to third place in the Western Conference with a goal difference of +13. St. Louis will be relying on Burki’s experience to make the playoffs.

John McCarthy

LAFC The 2023 season in the league and CCL has been dominating so far. John McCarthy has been vital on both fronts, keeping four clean sheets and conceding only nine goals. McCarthy was primarily a backup last season, but his heroics in the 2022 MLS Cup Finals and his performance this season have shown he is the rightful No. 1 for LAFC going forward.

The 30-year-old’s exceptional play has helped LAFC have a solid goal difference of +13. The Black and Gold know they can count on McCarthy when the pressure comes, as he did in this year’s CCL Semi-Finals.

Roman Celentano

FC Cincinnati currently leads the Supporters’ Shield race by leading the Eastern Conference and Roman Celentano has played his part. The 23-year-old is in his second season with Cincinnati and is second in the league in clean sheets with six. Celentano has conceded 14 goals in this campaign.

Cincinnati hopes for its strong start to the season to capture the Supporter’s Shield and top the Eastern Conference behind Celentano’s shot-stopping heroics.

Nashville SC vs New England Revolution

Nashville SC has been one of the most in-form teams in MLS in recent weeks, with Joe Willis leading the way. The 34-year-old struggled to clear the ball at times last season, but has made tremendous improvements this season.

Willis has kept six clean sheets and nine goals this campaign. Nashville has climbed to second place in the Eastern Conference after Willis’ performance and wants to make the playoffs.

Stephen Frey

Another Switzerland makes it to the international list seattle sounders have once again relied on the shot-stopping abilities of Stan Frey as they currently sit in second place in the Western Conference. Frei has accumulated the most shutouts in the league with seven and allowed 13 goals.

The 37-year-old has been with Seattle since 2014 and has made 330 appearances for the club. Expectations are always high with the Sounders, and Frei has not disappointed this season as they look to capture some silverware.
