The UN nuclear agency says Iran has pledged to cooperate in monitoring its sites.

The UN nuclear agency says Iran has pledged to cooperate in monitoring its sites.

This comes after a visit to Tehran by Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

His visit followed reports that the IAEA had found particles of uranium that had been enriched to near-weapons grade levels at Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility.

Tehran denies its intention to develop nuclear weapons.

But it has accelerated its enrichment program since then-President Donald Trump pulled the US out of Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers in 2018.

So how will the western powers react? Have sanctions against Iran worked?
